The AACE Power of
Prevention Committee was established in May 2003 to
develop four essential elements to encourage prevention of endocrine
related diseases. These elements include: creation of a patient
education website for adults and children; a pilot project documenting
that endocrinologists' patients achieve and maintain recognized targets,
supported by an unrestricted educational grant; a public awareness
campaign; and efforts aimed at gaining reimbursement for preventive
care, including screening for diseases.
